Dog Rescue
65Adopt a Dog
I am a dog (and cat) adoption advocate. I'd love everyone to run over to their nearest shelter and adopt a dog. But first, you need to be aware of what you're getting into. Are you really ready for a puppy or dog? Do you have the time to properly care for a new pet? That means spending time on training, giving them a walk everyday, grooming, and of course the basics like feeding and just providing plain old love and affection.
Dogs are a lot of work. They make messes; the bigger the dog, the bigger the mess. Dogs need exercise, and just because you have a little dog, does not mean they don't need as much exercise as a big dog. And just because you have a big dog doesn't mean they need a huge space. It all depends on the breed. It's important that you familiarize yourself with the various breeds and their personalities and needs.
Do you have a supportive spouse who also wants a dog? Do you have small children? That will play a part in what type of dog you should choose. So, if after thinking it through, you do decide you want to adopt a dog, please visit my site to make sure you adopt the right dog.

FREE Ways to Help Save a Dog
There are several ways you can help a shelter dog simply by doing easy tasks while on the internet. Save a Dog has an application on Facebook that everyone needs to join! http://saveadog.dogtime.com/animals?&referrer=220361 You can virtually foster a dog among other things. The more things you do, the more bowls of food get donated to shelters. There's a Save a Cat application too so sign up for both.
Another great way to help is Click to Give - simply remember to click every day and you help provide food that sponsors donate. Shop at their store and give some more. Send an e-card or sign a petition and help with animal welfare causes. It's so simple - it's not too much to ask for our defenseless animals.
